Picnics are so laidback yet so much fun, especially when you can go with friends and bring your puppy along. There are not many dog-friendly parks in HK, so Victoria Peak Garden which is one of the few dog-friendly spots, seemed like a total gem.

This park is tucked away in the Victoria Peak, so it does take some travelling to get to. If you're new to HK, Victoria Peak can be reached by either the famous Peak Tram, or by Bus 15. Once you've reached the peak, it takes another 20 minutes hike up a paved road to find the garden, and there  you'll discover a fairytale-like garden.

If you're looking for a place to get some sunshine and to catch up with your friends or family this weekend, or if you're a dog lover like I am, then I'd highly recommend Victoria Peak Garden as a bucket list place to visit.

There are two types of people in this world. Those who say, want, hope. And those who do. I think we both know which type goes further in life.

Question is, which type are you? If you truly acknowledged the short span of your life, how far are you willing to go? Don't you ever wonder how far you can go if you truly, full-heartedly worked towards your goals?

I personally don't understand people who limit themselves. Those who say, "I want to learn so-and-so, but only after I've finished this". But truth is they don't ever finish "this". Or even if they do, the thing they wanted to learn in the first place is long forgotten, or no longer feels important.

I also do not agree with the mindset of "I'll do it when I'm ready", or the most common one, "I want to date, but I don't think i'm ready yet". What is "ready"? Do you have a timer in your body that just one day wakes up and says "it's time to get out there!". Or do you picture a particular day in your life where your workload will magically lighten, and there will be less bills to pay, fewer chores to handle, hence you will "be ready" to take on a relationship? Or is that just your excuse of saying, I don't care enough, or is not courageous enough to do it. Don't sit around and wait for things to happen. Get off your bum, today. now.

Apologies for the outburst. This marks as a good reminder for myself, and hopefully also a spark of inspiration for you.


The Kids Are Alright

During Easter (this is how long it takes me to get posts up sometimes!) we went over to Sai Kung, for some breathtaking views and mostly to enjoy the sceneries of Sai Kung. As it's known now, Sai Kung is mostly a place where local HK people go, full of country parks, islands, fresh seafood and the best views.

The beautiful sailing boats full of people failing at life even more than us that day, were taken at Wong Shek pier (黃石), look at that clear blue water. We stood amused for half an hour watching people attempt to stand up on their little boats. Laugh as much as we could, they would always do a better job of it than us.

Our main purpose that day was to hit up the HK observatory park to star gaze- which was a real trek to get to- we ended up hailing a random taxi, and 60 dollars later we realised we had been thoroughly punked! The 'observatory park' was the size of a typical HK kids playground. After realising this and with no public transport in sight, we decided the walk up to the main road was the only solution. After trekking for half an hour, the hike was definitely worth it. We were greeted with this view:

Sometimes getting lost is the best thing, you discover new things and feel a bit refreshed when you reach civilisation too. I'm all for getting lost again, but next time, I definitely need to pack some snacks.

Fitness Journey: Month Four (Feb)

We have to admit, these last two months we have slacked. Work has been busy which should not be an excuse as exercise only really takes up a small percentage of our time. Time to get motivated again and start going to the gym!

Sophia- Last month I actually ran my first marathon! I ran the WWF run for change and on the same day bought my first 'grown up bag' (more on that later) so it felt like a real motivation to keep on running. 6km isn't the longest marathon, but I've really improved these last few months with my running. From not being able to run for 5 minutes to being able to keep at a good pace for 40-50 minutes boosted my confidence so much. Unfortunately, since the marathon I have been slacking off. But I plan to run when I feel a bit better. These last few days though, I have been doing the blogilates arm challenge and some ab exercises, so hopefully when I don't feel up to doing the cardio, I'm still doing some pilates exercises!

Apple- Right. So this month I've done pretty much no exercise other than the occasional runs with Sophia. I even skipped the WWF run because I fell sick :( and then I just completely slacked. Why? Because I'm just a big fat lazy pig that's why. *crawls into hole and hides from the human race*  OK but i'm happy to say that Soph and I have started picking it up again this month, going for weekend runs to keep up with our fitness plan.

To improve on:
  • Going to the gym at least once a week
  • Toning exercises- specifically abs, arms 
  • Keep on doing cardio
